599 Springs Fireplace Road Kitchen Renovation

This small kitchen was part of a gut renovation of an open plan barn built in approximately 1880.
The property sits on approximately two acres that had originally been a small family farm. Some challenges were the limited size of the space and that plumbing, and utilities needed to be kept in their existing locations. The age and previous use of the property drove the design in keeping with an historic farmhouse aesthetic. I selected solid wood painted cabinetry combine with forged metal hardware, farmhouse sink and natural stone on the counter and floors. It was also important to select paint finishes on the walls and cabinetry that felt historically appropriate by layering subdued blue hues. During the demolition we discovered a beautifully preserved rich warm wood joist and plank ceiling that we hand oiled and exposed and married beautifully with the brass and blue finishes.
